Wooden Charcoal Korean BBQ

First day in San Francisco and after a tiring day flying and traveling to the hotel, it is necessary to have a fantastic dinner!!

We decided to settle our dinner at the highly recommended Wooden Charcoal Korean BBQ located at 4611 Geary Blvd. 

It is approximately 20 minutes away from our hotel. 

The place was pretty packed when we reached but luckily we were able to get a table in 5 mins. As we had no idea what to order and the ala carte seemed pricey, we ordered a 2 person combo with an additional mixed tempura platter. The total cost is close to USD80. The food might be a little pricey but it's totally worth the price. 

The marinated chicken and beef are delicious and adequate for two of us. Other than the meat for BBQ, we were also served with other small Korean dishes like kimchi. We did not managed to finish the tempura as we were too full! 

Overall, the experience was pretty good and maybe the waitress should take more notice on us. We seemed to be left in the corner after our food were served. 

Happy Birthday to my wife

We were taking a break at Macy shopping mall (in Union Square) when an idea struck my mind. After we left, we walked into Lush located on the left side of Macy shopping mall. Ju was looking at some facial products as I left to get her a birthday cake. Of course I didn't tell her I was going to get her a cake. Instead I told her I'm going to shop. 

Ju carried on her shopping as I rushed back to level C of Macy mall to buy an ice cream cake for her and ran around the streets looking for candles! When I finally got one, I ran back to the front of Macy mall to ask the street musician playing a saxophone to play a birthday song. I called Ju and told her I lost my wallet and needed her to come immediately. 

When I saw her coming, I lit the candle but she spotted me with the cake immediately. Sigh... My plan to surprise her was gone. The street musician did a great job by playing the birthday song. I sang to her a birthday song on the street and she was very shy. Not the Juliana I knew for eight years! 

It was pretty fun to make the last minute arrangement and most importantly, Ju was happy. We walked all the way to Japantown where we finished the birthday cake. 

San Francisco 2014

Woohoo! Time for a break after a tiring work week. This trip is totally planned to celebrate Ju's 26th birthday! 

The trip to San Francisco was quite long as we have to transit at Portland and is our first time taking public transport from the airport. 

I'll shared more on our trip as our days go by. 

Happy Valentines day

This is the seventh year we celebrate our Valentines day. This year is slightly different. Usually we would go to restaurants for dinner and that is very typical but yesterday, I cooked for the the entree and Ju prepared the desserts. Yummy... Her desserts are second to none!

Winter Olympics

No.. Of course we are not training to represent Singapore in Winter Olympics. It was our very own Winter Olympics. The ski and fell category and board and 'thump' category. We went to the advanced level in Bogus Basin and had a fantastic experience! Our necks ache the next day after we fell our way down. Ju had a bruise on her backside while I had a huge bruise on my left calf. It's crazy but we really enjoyed ourselves! 

The way down Bogus Basin was like a trill ride! Our Escape was swerving left and right and luckily for us, nothing happened. Phew!

Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year is all about family reunion , fun and joy. As we were away from our family, we created our own mini reunion dinner at our house. Mr and Mrs Rajesh, Mr and Mrs Neo came to our house for steamboat dinner. 

Even though some special ingredients such as fish maw, fish balls, meatballs etc. were missing, we still managed to create an impressive steamboat dinner. And of course, gambling session!!

Warzone

The atmosphere is very tense. You can sense the fear and uncertainty while walking through the aisle to the office. I felt like I had gone back to the days of WWII where people were always living in fear as they would not know when the Axis bombardment comes. One mistake would be costly as morale might have hit new low. 

There's only a place to seek love, comfort and happiness. That is home. This is the place where my lovely young wife would make delicious dinner and desert for me after a long day at work. A person whom is willing to listen to my complains and someone I felt so safe with.
